At least 26 variants identified by early 2025 across Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania, and South America. China banned the class in July 2025, which may shift production elsewhere.

When 2C-B supply dried up, dealers kept the name and pink branding but switched to cheaper, locally available ingredients — typically ketamine, MDMA, and caffeine. The 'tusi' name is a phonetic Spanish rendering of '2C,' and 'pink cocaine' is pure marketing — cocaine is almost never present. Tusi is now its own street-market product category with no consistent formula.

How It Works In Your Brain

GHB is unique - your brain actually produces it naturally in small amounts. At recreational doses it primarily activates GABA-B receptors (a different GABA receptor than alcohol or benzos), plus its own dedicated GHB receptor. The extremely steep dose-response curve comes from the GABA-B activation: a small increase in dose can flip the switch from euphoria to unconsciousness.

Agonist

Activates the receptor, mimicking the brain's natural signal

GABA

The brain's main 'brake pedal.' It slows neural activity down. Alcohol, benzos, and GHB all amplify GABA. Too much GABA activity suppresses breathing.

Dopamine

The 'reward and motivation' signal. Virtually every addictive substance increases dopamine in the reward circuit. It's also essential for movement, focus, and learning.

Lethality

A comfortable dose is 1-2.5g. At 4-5g most people lose consciousness. That's only 2-2.5x, and the difference is less than a teaspoon of liquid. With any alcohol, the margin shrinks to about 1.5x. Volumetric dosing with a syringe is the only reliable way to measure — pouring is how most GHB overdoses happen.

The difference between a great time and unconsciousness is less than half a teaspoon.

GHB's exact metabolic pathway is not fully characterized, but CYP inhibitors appear to potentiate its effects. A man on ritonavir experienced respiratory failure after a previously tolerated GHB dose (Harrington et al., Arch Intern Med 1999). GHB already has one of the steepest dose-response curves of any substance — any potentiation is dangerous.

GHB in solution is susceptible to pH-dependent degradation. Acidic conditions promote lactonization to GBL (gamma-butyrolactone), which reconverts to GHB in the body. The equilibrium between GHB and GBL means potency is somewhat self-correcting in acidic solution, but the ratio shifts.

Concentrated GHB solutions may become more acidic over time. The GHB↔GBL equilibrium means total active content may be more stable than it appears.
